The Legend of Mazzeroth's First Release

Postby leeor_net » March 9th, 2010

It's been just over a year in the making and we're finally making our promised first release of LoM now available for download from our Download Page! Installation Instructions are also available if you need them.

The defining feature we've put a lot of work into is the self-updating sytem. Just like all commercial MMORPG publishers The Legend of Mazzeroth is capable of updating both its software and its data without the user having to constantly download and install patches manually. This makes it very easy for you, the user, to keep yourself up to date. All you need is a live internet connection and your game will remain up to date.

Also available in this first release is the basics of a map editor. It's sparse right now without a whole lot to do but the basics are there -- creating/opening/saving maps, choosing and placing tiles in the map and editing a few properties here and there. The map editor will be receiving some updates over the course of the next week or so to improve its functionality so that's one place to really keep an eye on.

Lastly, I posted a link to a new YouTube video in the General section but here's the link again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmVWuLgT3iM

Thanks to everybody for your continued support during our development process.

Windows Release
The Windows release is the first build to be put up for download.

MacOS X
The MacOS X release will be available shortly.

BSD
BSD releases will be made available as we find an appropriate method for building installer packages for the system.

The Mac version is getting a native-built launcher/updater system which is why it is delayed. I will be working on it each night and will keep those interested updated on its progress :)

Congratulations! The map editor is working beautifully on my computer : )

Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All...All Souls Night.

Nice, runnin the menu at like 333fps, sometimes it jumps to 500

my only complaint is that I had to press ok every time it finished an update.

We'll be replacing the update system at some point in the near future to make things a bit more streamlined.
